THE WILLOW MYTH BENCH (1998)

The client wanted a bench that reflected mythological themes, yet be integrated with the surroundings on his estate in Wales.

We worked the chosen list down to:

Diana
Leda and the Swan
Apollo and Daphne (Laurel Leaves)
A Lyre (the 9 Muses)
Cupid (Dart, Bow and Arrow)
An Old Roman Coin from the area
Barn Swallow (Good Luck Symbol in Wales)
and
Robin's Nest (My Bench Insignia which also happens to be a favorite omen in the United Kingdom).

This commission was very rewarding.

Detail: Model, clay, wax, wire and wood, 1/3 scale (1 inch = 5 1/4 inches) (40" H x 54" W x 22" D). This final design was for a client in Wales who wanted a practical Bronze Garden Bench that reflected mythological themes, yet would capture the essence of his estate woods.
